Mama's Sidekick Tanner Man

I have always called Tanner my sidekick. He loves it. He still asks me "Mommy when I am in first grade will I still be your sidekick?" I tell him "Sweet BOY when I am old and you are grown you will still be my sidekick." He will always be my sidekick. I call him that and have always called him that. He is doing great in Kindergarten.  We have started reading long chapter books together. Just him and I. We read the A to Z mystery books a couple times a week and then head to his library at Madison street every morning to take the accelerated reading quizzes on what we've read. We also read TONS of other books that we read together with Holden too. Tanner LOVES reading. He absolutely LOVES books. He reads all the time. It's a passion the 2 of us share. He is a sweet boy. He is still doing dance and is getting excited about the June recital. The best and most recent thing is that he and I are going to do our first 5K together. We started running the other day and he did AMAZING!! We will head out again tomorrow and run again. He got tired a few times but we pressed on. He said "mommy I am not gonna quit." I LOVE HIM!! He is 6. He is creative. He loves his brother. He irritates his brother.  He is helpful. He wants to make me proud. He LOVES school. He goofs off. He makes mistakes. He is fearfully and wonderfully made. HE IS MY BOY. I carried him for 9 months. He made me a mommy. He is my Tanner man. He is my sidekick. I went to a women's conference this weekend called IF. WHAT IF WE LIVED BOLDLY FOR CHRIST? I am doing that. OR AT LEAST that's where my heart is. I love my Savior. He loves me and created me. I really am holding onto the verse Psalm 139:14 NIV" I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well." I am living this for and with my kids.

LOVE

This has been a pretty awesome week. Sweet treats and  goodies, working on Tanners Kindergarten book ,warm fires at home, new Valentine's books to read and cold weather while playing at the park after school. We had lunch with Meme, a sweet visit to see the boys new cousin Randall, and checking on Grammy and cheering her up with a visit at the hospital. Meetings, work outs, writing, and enjoying life. Friday night Billy and I were able to go on a date and enjoy some delicious Italian food. He still makes me laugh. I trust him and love that I can share candidly with him about anything from friendships to parenting.  I have been cooking new things and introducing the boys to new stuff. Tanner found out he likes beets, mac n cheese, and wild rice with quinoa. All things he would not eat before. Holden is so sweet recognizing letters and sounds.  I am super thankful for him being in underwear full time. Tanner is reading whole books to us at bedtime and enjoying his dance and working on his recital for June. I love doing things with them and for them. God loves us and I am so thankful for that. Today Billy took the boys out of the house to have some fun. I am so thankful for this. I love being a full time mom. I am loving these days. Some of the joys of the past week are Holden always wanting to "snuggle with me" and Tanner loving me to read him long chapter books and sitting as close to me as he can. The question book I bought and have been doing with the kids all year has been awesome. A couple days ago the question of the day was if you were a pirate and could have a treasure chest with anything in it what would you have? Tanner said, "My special Woody doll that came from Santa's work shop, Darth Vader, Pizza, and Light Sabers." Holden said, "Well just m & m's." I love these guys and they keep me going and growing. Thank you God for our many blessings.
